These cookies are a holiday classic. The recipe makes huge batches and these are so fun to make with a friend by your side, a cookie press, and some colored sugar.


  • 3 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • colored granulated sugar or other sprinkles

Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees.

Beat your butter until light and fluffy. Then, whisk in sugar and baking powder until combined. Add and mix in your egg and extracts. Finally, add the flour in gradually, about 1/2 to 1 cup at a time. Next, prep your cookie press. This is my favorite part. I always end up using every shape we have for our press. Secure your chosen shape to the press, fill the press with dough, and squeeze through the press onto cookie sheets. Top with some colored sugar and bake for about 9 minutes. Let cool and enjoy (probably in large quantities- this may make a lot, but they’ll go quickly)
