Like anyone that’s lived in Texas, I’ve grown up around tex-mex food, which inevitably includes an inundation of various salsas. This is my take on a fresh red salsa.


  • 1 jalapeño, cored and de-seeded
  • 1/2 of a small onion, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 28 oz whole drained tomatoes
  • the juice of 1/2 lime


This is super easy! I just started out by pulsing together my garlic and whole tomatoes in a food processor until just fully combined. Then, I added in my lime juice, jalapeño, cumin, salt, and pepper and pulsed again until I started to reach my desired consistency. Lastly, I added in the onion and cilantro and pulsed about 5 times, just to incorporate. I checked flavors to adjust seasoning if necessary and served!
